Carmen Shick says he hasn’t been sitting idle while Lawrence County awaits the outcome of a proposed track and casino.

In fact, the originator of the idea to build a harness track and casino here has been working on his plans to create additional facilities near the proposed gambling site in Mahoning Township.

Despite ongoing uncertainties over track and casino plans pursued by Centaur Gaming, which is now trying to sell its property in Lawrence County, Shick has remained confident the project is a good one and will be completed.

Reporter Nancy Lowry will have more about Shick, his vision and some of the latest twists and turns of this saga in the Weekend edition of the New Castle News.
