Editor, The News:
I travel Route 18 south from the intersection of 158 to the City of New Castle. Early this winter, some sections of the highway developed some raised spots to the surface. PennDOT milled these off.
In milling, they went so deep we now have some deep, dangerous excavations. When you drop into one of these holes, you could damage your steering and lose control of your vehicle, especially when the road is slippery.
We have enough winter damage (potholes and so on) without PennDOT creating more hazards.
My questions are:
1. Who engineered this project?
2. Why at the beginning of winter?
I feel my tax dollars are not very responsibly managed. Maybe a more responsible manager could engineer a project that would be timely and safe. Should we dream?
