We should be talking about opioids, not legal pot

Editor, The News:

Am I the only one that finds it interesting and ironic that Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, who is on record as supporting legal recreational marijuana, is conducting a county-by-county “listening” tour on the legalization of recreational marijuana, and yet no one has conducted a county-by-county listening tour regarding the opioid crisis that has ravaged Pennsylvania over the last five years?

Pennsylvania continues to be in the top five states in overdose deaths, with over 5,600 dying in 2017 — and no one appears to be “listening.”

Does Pennsylvania have its priorities straight? Or is it as many people suspect — legalized pot is all about the money.
