Did the country club never pay any taxes?

Editor, The News:

Is it just me, or was anyone else’s curiosity aroused by the May 14 News article, “New Castle Country Club sold to Avalon Holding”?

Quoting from the second heading on Page Two, “The majority of the club’s shareholders voted April 30 to sell the club and approve a plan to dissolve the nonprofit corporation that runs the country club.”

Nonprofit corporation?

Does that mean the country club was exempt from paying any property taxes for all these years? I’m sure the landowners of Neshannock Township would like an answer to that question.
