A woman who police believe had overdosed on heroin is facing a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

New Castle police say city fire and emergency rescue personnel revived Cynthia Salomon, 27, of 231 N. Crawford Ave., Thursday morning at a house at 621 Raymond Street where she reportedly was unconscious. The call was received at 5:30 a.m.

Police said they arrived at the house to find Salomon lying on the floor turning purple and barely breathing.

The resident who reported the incident told police he believed she had ingested heroin.

The paramedics administered Narcan, a drug that counters the effects of opioids, and Salomon became responsive.

The resident told police that when he found her she was grasping a syringe and he removed it from her hand and put it on a counter.

Police said they also confiscated a silver spoon with suspected drug residue on it, along with a black bag containing two Q-tips and another needle.
