New Castle firefighters battle a Tuesday afternoon blaze at 7 Robinson St.

New Castle firefighters battled a West Side house fire Tuesday afternoon.

The department responded to a call about 1:15 p.m. at 7 Robinson St., between West Washington and West North streets. A general alarm followed the initial call about 1:30 p.m., when flames could be seen coming from the attic.

According to a report from the scene, the blaze began when the resident was attempting to thaw a frozen pipe.

The fire was extinguished by 2 p.m.
