A New Galilee man died after his vehicle was hit by a southbound train shortly after midnight on Monday in New Beaver Borough.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, Dwight Spann Sr., 53, who had been traveling on Larchwood Drive in a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer, was stopped or parked at the railroad crossing when his vehicle was hit by a Norfolk Southern locomotive.
The report said the train hit the Trailblazer on the passenger side, pushing it some 200 yards along the track.
Police said Spann, the only occupant of the vehicle, was ejected from the vehicle after impact.
Lawrence County Coroner Russell Noga was at the scene and pronounced Spann dead at the scene at 12:08 a.m.
