•Accident. Police said a New Castle Transit Authority bus clipped the rear end of a white Chevrolet Malibu when the car ran a red light at the intersection of Croton Avenue at West Grove Street around 4:10 p.m. Feb. 10. The Malibu driver, 82-year-old Angela Kosior of 701 Smiley St., told police she was unaware that she had run the light. The bus was driven by David DePaulo, 54, of 930 Warren Ave. No injuries were reported.

•Burglary. Three televisions and six sets of towels were reported taken from a home in the 800 block of Beckford Street between 4 p.m. Feb. 4 and noon Feb. 5.

•Burglary. Copper pipe was reported taken from the basement of a home in the 1000 block of Beckford Street around 3:25 p.m. Feb. 6.

•Arrest. Several police officers reported minor injuries from icy weather conditions while trying to arrest Michael Quear, 20, of 520 Electric St., who was wanted on felony warrants. Police at 12:30 p.m. Feb. 9 saw Quear walking on the city’s Lower East Side and chased him as he jumped over fences and ran through yards. Officers found him hiding under a back porch on Pine Street. He was arrested and charged with flight to avoid apprehension, trial or punishment.

•Criminal mischief. A resident of the 700 block of Chestnut Street told police the siding on her house was damaged and an exploded pop bottle was found nearby. The incident occurred the afternoon or evening of Feb. 7.

•Theft. A delivered package, said to contain an iPhone, was reported taken from a residence in the 800 block of McGrath Avenue. The theft was reported Feb. 9.


•Accident. Police said Austin M. Boone, 18, of Hookstown, Pa., was westbound on Route 108 in Scott Township at 8:15 a.m. Saturday when his sport utility vehicle slid on an icy curve and struck several pine trees. No injuries were reported.

•Accident. Vehicles driven by Matthew M. McCosby, 39, of New Castle, and Matthew T. Freiling, 21, of Marshall, Va., collided about 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Police said Freiling, driving west on Route 422 in Slippery Rock Township, slowed to turn left onto Copper Road and McCosby’s car hit his from behind. No injuries were reported.

•Theft. Police said a 61-year-old New Castle man was defrauded of $1,833 when he purchased a vehicle online through a fraudulent account on Dec. 11.

•Melanie Marie Jones, 35, of New Castle, was charged by Union Township police with defiant trespass.


Shenango Township police charged the following:

•Mark Anthony Cilli, 23, of New Castle, public drunkenness and similar misconduct.

•Brandy Lynn Bartley, 36, of New Castle, retail theft.

•Matthew Ross Hinkle, 35, of New Castle, aggravated assault, simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.
