An Ellwood City woman was run over by her own car.

Ellwood City police said Nancy Thomas, 63, of 724 Line Ave., got out of her car, a 2013 Fiat, to mail letters about 6:25 p.m. Tuesday and the vehicle drifted and hit her.

Police said the incident took place at the mail box at the northeast corner of Line Avenue and North Street. Thomas told police she believed the car had been put in park before she got out.

Officers said she was taken to Ellwood City Hospital.
