A West Pittsburg woman is hospitalized in Youngstown after an accident in Mahoning Township.
Johnna Falatko, 19, is listed in satisfactory condition in St. Elizabeth Health Center. Police said she sustained head injuries and was transported by ambulance because of snowy weather conditions.
According to police, Falatko was driving west on Route 422 around 8 a.m. Tuesday when her car spun out of control into the eastbound lane, near Hillsville Road. It hit the front of a box truck driven by 52-year-old Carl Farina of Youngstown. Falatko’s fuel tank split open from the impact and gasoline spilled onto the road, police said.
A van driven by Michael Olverson, 30, of Campbell, Ohio, went off the road in an effort to avoid the collision.
Falatko’s and Farina’s vehicles were towed. No other injuries were reported.
Police said Falatko will be cited for driving too fast for conditions, based on information provided by witnesses.
