A warrant has been issued for a New Castle man in connection with a weekend shooting in Union Township.

Todd Rae Walker, 22, of 1014 Glen Ave. is wanted in connection with the shooting of Russell Lloyd Harris, 34, of 602 E. Long Ave. He is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure and recklessly endangering another person.

According to state police, Harris was shot while standing outside a home at 3078 McClelland Ave. Saturday evening. Harris was hit twice police said, once in the chest and once in the stomach, with bullets fired from an assault-type rifle.

Harris was listed in critical condition Monday at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. Tuesday, a hospital spokeswoman said she could release no information on his condition.

Police said the charges against Walker were filed Monday in the office of District Judge Jennifer Nicholson

They have no motive for the shooting, police said, although the victim and accused apparently know each other. Police also noted multiple rounds were fired and several struck the McClelland Avenue home, where two people were inside, and another nearby house.

As police continue to search for Walker, they are asking for the public’s help. Anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts has been asked to call the state police in New Castle at (724) 598-2211. All calls will be kept confidential.
