A Union Township teen has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his 67-year-old grandfather.
Union Township police said Nicholas Daniel McCue, 18, of 158 Elmwood St., is charged with terroristic threats, simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment, public drunkenness, underage drinking and criminal mischief.
He is in the Lawrence County jail on $1,000 bond.
Officers, who arrived at Elmwood Street about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, said the grandfather had told them his daughter had called him because her son had become disruptive.
The grandfather told police that when he arrived, McCue went after him, threatening to beat him and kill him.
The grandfather said McCue had pulled a rain spout from a neighbor’s house and struck him with it. The blow caused the rain spout to bend in half, police said.
The teen then grabbed another piece of metal in the neighbor’s yard. He tried to hit his grandfather again, but the neighbor intervened, throwing McCue to the ground, police were told. The grandfather held McCue until officers arrived.
Police said McCue was still yelling profanities and being disruptive when they arrived.
According to police, several witnesses confirmed the grandfather’s account.
