Charges against Shawn Moore, charged in a Jan. 25 South Side shooting, have been bound over for court.

Moore, 32, of 1146 Parkwood Court, is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, illegal possession of firearms, discharging a firearm into an occupied building, simple assault, terroristic threats, two counts of recklessly endangering another person and criminal mischief.

District Judge Jennifer Nicholson yesterday reduced Moore’s bond to $200,000. The bond had been $500,000.

The reduction was requested by Moore’s attorney, Harry O. Falls, who said Moore had local connections and was not a flight risk.

Assistant district attorney Luann Parkonen said she did not object to lowering the bond but noted that Moore has connections to Detroit and faces “very serious felonies.”

New Castle police, called to the Elks Club at 15 E. Home St. at 3:45 a.m. Jan. 25, were told Moore and Eric Reighert had begun fighting inside the club.

According to court papers, Moore was taken outside and he walked to a white vehicle, retrieved something from the car and fired five to six rounds into the air in the parking lot.

When someone opened the door of the club, police said, Moore reentered with a gun and fired two shots at Reighert, who took cover by diving under a table. Police said Moore walked to the back of the club and put the barrel of his gun to the head of Michael Graham, who was standing outside the restrooms.

Moore left the building before officers arrived.

Police stopped him near the St. Vitus Church parking lot. Reighert, taken to the scene, identified Moore as the man who had fired two shots at him. One shot struck Reighert on the bridge of the nose.

In court paperwork, police said they had located a black handgun near a fence where Moore had walked between the club and the church.

Police said the gun was jammed but was loaded with five rounds.
