At its meeting Aug. 13, the Shenango school board:

•Reappointed Mark Turnley as district auditor at the following pay: For the year ending June 30, 2008, $6,000; for the year ending June 30, 2009, $6,200; for the year ending June 30, 2010, $6,400 and for the 2006-07 tax audit, $3,300.

•Granted permission for Bob Babick, high school band director, to take the band to Kennywood on Aug. 20 at a cost to the district of $1,290 for transportation.

•Agreed to purchase coal from East Fairfield Coal Co. at $51.96 per ton plus freeze-proofing for an additional $1 per ton. The firm was the low bidder.

•Approved Tiffany Tomon as a volunteer cheerleader coach/adviser and Joe Donati and Andy Piccuta as volunteer football coaches/advisers.

•Approved the following textbooks: “Teen Health,” “The World and its People,” “Skills for Living,” “Modern Biology” and Mathematics.

•Approved the day-to-day employee substitute list including teachers, custodians, teacher aides and cafeteria workers.

•Gave the first reading to a policy limiting visitors at board meetings to five minutes to speak.

•Agreed for the high school auditorium to be an emergency evacuation site for the Pre-K Kids Learning Center at the corner of Ellwood and Gardner Stop roads.

•Granted permission for the class of 1967 to visit the elementary and high schools Oct. 6 as part of its reunion.
