SHARON – A Sharon man accused of having sex with a boy when he was between the ages of 5 and 8 on waived his right to a preliminary hearing Thursday, sending the case to Mercer County Court of Common Pleas.
Cody Anthony Lord, 25, of 406 Ellsworth St., was charged with rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault and related sex charges in the case, according to a police criminal complaint.
Police responded to a ChildLine referral in which a victim said Lord touched him sexually between July 2006 and July 2009.
The boy told detectives that it would happen when Lord was babysitting him at two different Sharon residences. He said it happened about 50 times at one residence. The assaults were less frequent at the other, police said.
The boy said that Lord was between 14 and 16 at the time.
Lord at first denied sexual activity between the two. He said he sometimes played doctor with the boy and sometimes he would bathe him, police said.
During a second interview with police, Lord admitted to touching the boy in the shower and said it happened three or four times, police said.
An arraignment in common pleas court is set for Jan. 14.
