A second person was charged Friday for allegedly beating up a man on Booker Drive and giving him a concussion.

New Castle police charged Dana Matthews, 30, of 733 Altman Road. He was not in custody and police have a warrant for his arrest.

His alleged accomplice in the attack, Diondre Quavon Calhoun, 22, of 411 N. Mercer St., was arrested Oct. 3.

According to police, the assault took place around 5:30 p.m. Sept. 29 outside an apartment in the 1100 block of Booker Drive at the Harbor Heights apartments.

A witness told police two men had punched and kicked the victim’s head several times against the curb. She said they also had threatened the man.

He was treated at Jameson Hospital and diagnosed with a concussion, police said.

Both men are charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault, defiant trespass, harassment and disorderly conduct.
