St. Vitus and Wilmington cheerleaders tied for first in the inaugural “Beat the Blues” competition at Union High School.

The event was hosted by Union’s middle school cheerleaders. The school’s varsity and junior varsity teams performed their routines, as did Mohawk’s junior high squad, the Hermitage Aces and Natalie’s Cheer and Tumble.

St. Vitus, Wilmington and New Castle competed.

Jump-off winners were Krystin Hood of New Castle and Natalie’s Cheer and Tumble, Sheridan Jennings of the Hermitage Aces, Alexis Thompson of New Castle and Aviance DeLillo of Natalie’s Cheer and Tumble.

Union middle school advisor Randilyn Presnar called the event “an absolute success” and thanked local residents and businesses for their support.
