LACKAWANNOCK TOWNSHIP – A man visiting the area with his family died after diving into a pool at a local hotel, said Mercer County Coroner John Libonati.

Corey D. Rehrauer, 48, of New York state, dived into the shallow end of a pool at the Comfort Inn in East Lackawannock Township at 8:21 p.m. Saturday, Libonati said. Rehrauer died from blunt force trauma to the head and neck when he hit the shallow bottom, he said.

Libonati ruled the death was accidental. Rehrauer was in the hotel with his family. Family members went to their room while Rehrauer decided to go to the pool, Libonati said.

An ambulance and state police were called to the scene, Mercer County 911 said.

Attempts were made to resuscitate Rehrauer at the scene and while an ambulance took him to Grove City Medical Center, Libonati said, where he was declared dead.
