A former Mahoningtown man on the Megan’s Law list as a convicted child pornography offender is being sought by police.
New Castle police have charged Craig Edmond Allen, 34, whose last known address was 205 N. Lafayette St., with failure to comply with registration of a sexual offender. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
City police said Allen failed to update his address with the state police when he moved.
A city officer reported he had received an investigation request from the Megan’s Law section of the state police, related to Allen being a noncompliant offender.
Officers went to Allen’s last known address to try to find him, but the occupant there said Allen had moved to California about five months ago. The resident told police Allen had told him he was tired of being harassed by state parole.
Police learned from the Lawrence County adult probation department that Allen was off probation in August and had mailed in his last payments.
According to information from the Megan’s Law website, Allen’s registration under Megan’s Law was updated Oct. 10, 2013. He was first registered Sept. 27, 2011. He was convicted Aug. 24, 2011, of dissemination of photographs, videotapes, computer depictions and films of children, with an offense date of Dec. 30, 2009.
