A Neshannock Township man is in critical condition after his motorcycle hit a car yesterday afternoon.
Robert Oesterling, 76, of 765 E. Maitland Lane, was taken by emergency helicopter to St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown.
According to state police, a car driven by Jacqueline S. Wyant, 21, of 2275 Sunrise Drive, was stopped at a stop sign facing west on Sunrise Drive around 2:30 p.m. As she entered the intersection, she noticed the southbound motorcycle on Valley Road and that it did not have a stop sign.
She stopped her car and Oesterling hit his brakes but lost control of the bike. It slid on its left side, and Oesterling hit the right front corner of her car with his helmet. The bike hit the front of the car with its windshield and seat.
Wyant and her passengers were not injured, police said, and her Ford Taurus had no damage.
Oesterling’s motorcycle sustained moderate damage, according to police.
The Neshannock Township police and fire departments, the Lawrence County sheriff’s department and Noga Ambulance assisted state police.
