An Ellwood City man faces 25 felony charges after allegedly admitting to having sex with a 10-year-old boy.

Ryan James Lutz, 29, of 627 Park Ave. was picked up at his home on Monday by Ellwood City police officers after they learned from the boy what had happened.

The police were summoned to Jameson Hospital Sunday regarding the alleged sexual assault. Police met with the boy, his mother and his grandparents, and interviewed the child in their presence.

The boy said that Lutz on several occasions since he was 8 years old had oral and anal sexual relations with him, and the child described to police in detail what had transpired.

The boy said that he thought the first time that Lutz was playing an April Fool’s joke on him. He said most of the incidents had occurred in Lutz’s house, but some had occurred in a trailer and in another location.

After police arrested Lutz, he agreed to a give a taped interview, during which time he admitted to having had relations with the boy.

Lutz is charged with five counts each of aggravated indecent assault, statutory rape, rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and sexual assault, all felonies.

He additionally is charged with five counts of indecent assault, which is a misdemeanor.

He was arraigned by District Judge Jerry Cartwright, who lodged him in the Lawrence County jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.

His preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Lawrence County Central Court.
