HARRISBURG — Unemployment compensation fraud has cost Pennsylvania an estimated $570 million and counting since the start of the pandemic, the head of the state Department of Labor & Industry said Thursday.

Secretary Jennifer Berrier and other officials testified before the House Committee on Labor & Industry. Identity theft and bank account hijacking are the most common forms of fraud in the pandemic, she said, adding that state and federal agencies continue investigating.
