A woman who was hit by a car on East Washington Street was released from the hospital Tuesday. Deborah Zorens, 45, of 507 E. Lutton St., was struck by a car around 5:30 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Taylor Street. She was taken by ambulance to Jameson Hospital, where she was admitted. New Castle police said the car that hit her was driven by 56-year-old Gary Watkins of 2418 Woodland Drive. He was not injured. Jon Geramita, of 909 Rose Ave., who witnessed the accident from another vehicle, said he saw Zorens crossing East Washington Street and as she stepped into the road, a car driven by Watkins turned right from Butler Avenue. He said Zorens rolled onto the car's hood, then went airborne about five feet before landing on the ground.
