Lawrence County Treasurer Gary F. Felasco's trial will be in Franklin, the county seat of Venango County.

No date has been set.

Deputy Attorney General Anthony Krastek, who will prosecute the case, said a time and date would have to coordinated by Senior Visiting Judge Michael Wherry and the Venango County courts.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court handed down an order Jan. 9, certifying a change of venue for Felasco's trial to Venango County.

Felasco's attorney, James Ross, had requested the change, claiming that because of extensive media publicity, his client cannot get a fair trial in Lawrence County.

Krastek did not contest the request.

Felasco was arrested in September and faces charges of theft, embezzlement and violations of the state ethics act. He is accused of stealing more than $40,000 in tax money over three months in 2003.

He also is accused of having illegal stays on delinquent properties in the tax claim bureau, including his, which kept those properties out of tax claim sales.

He was released on his own recognizance.
