HERMITAGE —The U.S. Food and Drug Administration served a warrant Tuesday at the home of a member of the Hermitage Board of Commissioners.

Hermitage Police Chief Eric Jewell said his department assisted in serving the federal warrant at 4935 Lakeview Drive in Hermitage but was unable to comment on the warrant. Jewell directed questions to the FDA’s Philadelphia office, but the agency was unable to provide details about the warrant.

The home where the warrant was served is owned by Emil and Maria Koledin. Maria Koledin is a city commissioner.

The FDA is responsible for investigations and inspections of regulated industries and can execute both inspection warrants and search warrants in the course of its operations.

In addition to being the commissioner’s residence, the location is also listed as the site of Koledin Enterprises, Inc. under Emil Koledin. Website.informer.com lists the company as the owner of awakebrain.com with 934 daily visitors and of diydefense.com.

AwakeBrain sells a variety of “drugs, supplements, nutraceuticals, and functional foods that improve one or more aspects of mental function, such as working memory, motivation, and attention,” according to its website.

The company is also listed on the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy as one of it’s “Not Recommended Sites.”

“Ordering drugs from these websites puts you and your family at risk,” according to the association. “Not Recommended Sites are those internet drug outlets that appear to be out of compliance with state and federal laws or NABP patient safety and pharmacy practice standards.”

Attempts to contact Maria Koledin were unsuccessful. No one answered the number listed for Koldedin Enterprises. An answering machine said the number was for diydefense.

According to its website, AwakeBrain sells 35 products including one that was developed in Russia to “prevent and repair damage from strokes.”

“We only sell products legal in the US,” the AwakeBrain website states.

Authorities were seen leaving the residence with boxes at 12:15 p.m., but declined to answer questions.
