SHARON – A Farrell man is accused of forcing a 6-year-old girl to have sex with him.
Ronald James Harden Jr., 51, of 308 Mercer Ave., was charged with unlawful contact with a minor, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, unlawful restraint, endangering the welfare of children, indecent assault, assault and reckless endangerment in the case.
Harden's preliminary hearing is scheduled for today. He remains in Mercer County Jail after he failed to post $200,000 bail.
Police said they responded on Nov. 16 to a report of a sexual assault and talked to the child.
The 6-year-old told police that Harden pulled her pants down and touched her private parts, police said. The victim said he sexually assaulted her twice.
Police said the girl told them Harden and the victim were in his bed Nov. 15 when he allegedly forced her to have sex with him. The victim said she slept in Harden's bed all night with her clothes on. She told police that Harden held her down by her wrists.
Police said she screamed and resisted but he overpowered her.
On Nov. 16 Harden sat beside her on the couch with his pants unzipped, police said. The girl was later seen curled up on the couch crying.
The girl then told a family member what Harden had done, which included using his cell phone to take pictures of her private area on his cell phone, police said.
She underwent a trauma examination at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh for a trauma examination.
