End of an era Longtime workers bid Kmart a sad farewell

Some of Kmart's longest-running workers spend Monday clearing out the store. From left are Judy Ferrucci, 42 years; Donna Iervoline, 40 years, Gary Kennedy, 30 years and Joyce Deck, 41 years.
This sign alerts prospective customers to Kmart in Lawrence Village Plaza that the store has closed.
Judy Ferrucci, a 42-year employee of Kmart, holds a Life Saver that a customer gave her. He and another man would go into the store every day with the candies for the employees.
Gary Kennedy, store manager, disconnects some of the wires Monday at a checkout stand inside Kmart.
Longtime Kmart employees who will be in the store working for the next two weeks include Lori Hairhoger, 31 years; Charlene 'Baby Char' Losten, 33 years; Suzette Nagel, 15 years and Regina Palkovitch, 17 years.
