STATE

Accident. Police said David Evans, 58, of 7 E. Moody Ave. tried to turn left onto Route 224 from Wilson Road in Union Township around 4:10 p.m. July 10 and was moving into the left lane to go around a car in front of him when his tractor-trailer hit the side of a pickup truck that had pulled out. The pickup was driven by Charles Osborne, 71, of 229 Abbey Lane. The fuel tank of Evans’ freightliner was ruptured and spilled diesel fuel onto the highway. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation spread sand on the road. No injuries were reported. Both trucks were towed. The Union Township Volunteer Fire Department assisted.

Accident. Tammy Allen, 31, of Hermitage failed to yield after she stopped at the intersection of Route 158 and Johnston Road in Wilmington Township around 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, police said. Her pickup truck hit a northbound Jeep driven by Jackson McCullough, 51, of New Castle. Police said Allen sustained a back injury but it was unknown if McCullough was injured. His Jeep sustained severe damage.
