•Accident. Police said Thomas James Fisher, 55, of Park Avenue was leaving Sheetz on Routes 422 and 388 in his wheelchair at 10:10 a.m. Aug. 27 when his chair was struck by a pickup truck operated by Michael Robert George, 66, of Butler, who was backing out of a parking space. The rear of the truck bumper Fisher and knocked him out of his wheelchair. George immediately stopped his vehicle and rendered assistance to Fisher until emergency personnel arrived. Police said Fisher sustained a small cut above his right eye but declined transport to the hospital.
•Accident. Police said that Tara M. Michaels, 31, of 147 Shenango Road was eastbound on Business Route 422 at 4:39 p.m. Sunday in a 2004 GMC SUV when she was struck by an eastbound 2005 Ford operated by Aaron Simon, 28, of 1405 Alvaretta Blvd. The impact caused Michael’s vehicle to hit a 2003 Jeep operated by Stephen W. Kupiece, 24, of 3813 Evergreen Road, Pulaski. Simon’s vehicle was removed from the scene by Martin’s Towining. The other two were able to be driven away
•Accident. Police said Ruth Perrone, 81, of 2220 Berger Street was eastbound on Cascade Boulevard in a 2000 Chevrolet at 4:20 p.m. Monday when she became distracted and drifted onto the other side of the road as she rounded a curve, colliding head on with a 2004 Chrysler driven by 18-year-old Angelica N. Warner of 217 W. Winter Ave. Both drivers suffered minor injuries, police said, as did a passenger, 16-year-old Halle Viggiano of 1716 Audley Ave. Two other passengers were uninjured. Perrone’s car was able to be driven from the scene. Warner’s was towed by Del’s.
•Criminal mischief. Police were called at 12:11 a.m. Aug. 25 to 1429 New Butler Road, where a woman reported two males had thrown a rock and broken a window in the rear of her business. The males fled and foot and could not be located.
•Criminal mischief. Police said someone who apparently was trying to break in broke a window of a Kozal Road trailer between 1:30 and 8:30 p.m. Aug. 27. A dog in the trailer is believed to have scared off the intruder. Damage was estimated at $100.
•Criminal mischief. Someone threw rocks at a truck in the area of Get-Go on New Butler Road at 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
•Harassment. A 55-year-old Princeton Road man told police at 6 p.m. Tuesday that he has been receiving harassing calls from a known Ellwood City female. He also said that a real estate sale sign that had been in his yard was missing. A neighbor reported hearing female voices in the man’s yard the previous night.
•Arrest. Police arrested Mathew Salamon, 24, of Carr Street at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant issued by New Castle police after Salamon was observed walking along Frank Avenue.
•Theft by unlawful taking. A 44-year-old Frew Mill Road, Slippery Rock Township, man said he was awakened at 2:28 a.m. Wednesday by the sound of his 2000 Ford F-350 diesel truck starting. As the vehicle was leaving, the owner approached it and had a brief confrontation with the driver, who later was identified as Thomas Allen Reed Jr., 23, of New Castle. Reed was charged with felony theft by unlawful taking or disposition and lodged in the Lawrence County jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.
•Retail theft. Police said Tammy Lynn Allen of Centennial Street removed $6.90 worth of lunch meet from Shop ’n’ Save on West State Street at 1:59 p.m. Tuesday and left the store without paying for it. She was arrested on a charge of retail theft.
