•PFA violation. Police were dispatched at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday to Savannah Road near Ridgewood Court for multiple reports of a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle was located on Ridgewood Court and stopped. Police identified the driver as Michael Anthony Griffin, 19, of Newell Avenue. Griffin had a protection-from-abuse order filed against him by a Ridgewood Court resident. He was arrested and placed in the Lawrence County jail. He was arraigned Wednesday and returned to the jail on $1,500 bond.

•Retail theft. Police responded at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday to Kmart on Ellwood Road, where an employee detained Ronald Wischerman, 31, of Portersville. Wischerman reportedly attempted to return an unopened item from the rear of the store, which he had not purchased. He was released and charges were going to be filed with District Judge David B. Rishel.

•Theft. Someone took construction items during the last three months from a home in the 2900 block of Ellwood Road. The thefts were discovered Monday. Missing were a Werner brand 32-foot extension ladder, a DeWalt brand chipping hammer, a Fein brand multimaster tool, a Stihl concrete cutoff saw, multiple windows and 4-by-8 metal sheets.

•Theft. Someone entered a home in the 1900 block of Hamilton Street between 5 and 9:35 p.m. Wednesday and removed a Toshiba 1080p DVD player, valued at $125.


Lawrence County

•DUI. Brandon Mackievich, 20, of New Galilee was stopped for speeding at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday on Route 224 at English Avenue, Union Township, and found to be operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Charges of DUI, underage drinking and summary traffic violations are pending results of a blood test.

•Harassment. A known juvenile was charged with harassment after threatening an 18-year-old male at 7:11 p.m. Wednesday at a Stickle Road, Perry Township, residence.

•Accident. A two-vehicle accident occurred at 3:55 p.m. yesterday on Hoffmaster Road in North Beaver Township. A vehicle, traveling north on Hoffmaster Road, struck the left side of a 2000 Chevrolet 1500 pickup, which was southbound. The first vehicle left the scene. No injuries were reported.

•Accident. A two-vehicle accident took place at 2:55 p.m. yesterday on Route 422 in Union Township. A 2009 Peterbilt turned left from Harbor Road onto Route 422 and into the path of a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am. No injuries were reported.

•Accident. A one-car accident took place at 8:06 a.m. Oct. 29 on Cutoff Road in Hickory Township. Police said Marilyn J. Garczynski, 57, of New Castle was driving a 2000 Mercury Sable when a deer struck the driver’s side window. The deer’s body partially struck Garczynski in the head. Police said she complained of neck and jaw pain. Noga Ambulance transported her to Jameson Hospital.

•Accident. A one-car accident took place at 10:03 a.m. Oct. 25 on Route 208 in Washington Township. Police said James A. Bancroft, 29, of Grove City was driving a 1997 Ford Taurus when it went off the road for unknown reasons. The vehicle struck an embankment. Bancroft was not injured.

Butler County

•Underage drinking. Police said Melissa Schaible, 20, of New Castle and Kirsten Nicole Miller, 19, of New Wilmington were cited for underage drinking when troopers discovered them to be under the influence of alcohol at 1 a.m. Saturday at the Ivy Apartments in Slippery Rock Township.
