Police said yesterday that both drivers left the scene after a May 2 crash in Union Township.
According to police, Christopher S. Fulkman, 33, of New Castle was eastbound on Sampson Street just before 1 a.m., following another vehicle operated by Jamie L. Strayer, 44, of New Castle. Police said Fulkman’s car struck the rear of Strayer’s just west of the Route 60 on ramp.
Police said Strayer was fearful about the incident, and continued on until she was able to contact New Castle police. That department determined that the occurrence did not take place in its jurisdiction, and handed the investigation over to state police.
Fulkman’s vehicle, police said, became disabled, and Fulkman left the scene on foot after pulling his car off the road.
Police said Strayer and a passenger in her car, Marie Wise, 62, of New Castle suffered moderate injuries, but were to seek medical attention on their own. A second passenger in Strayer’s vehicle, 17-year-old Rayvaughn Hammond, and Fulkman were not injured.
No charges have been filed.
