Three horses were struck by an automobile on Route 18 early Friday.

According to state police, the accident occurred about 2:50 a.m., a few hundred feet north of Poverty Point Road in Wilmington Township.

Officers said Michael D. Skiba, 21, of New Wilmington was traveling south when he came across seven horses on the road. His vehicle struck three of them.

Skiba wasn’t injured, police said. However, officers said there was “severe damage” to at least two of the horses.
