Borough tax collectors, auditors elected

The Republican candidate for Ellwood City tax collector scored a decisive win over the Democratic challenger in Nov. 8's election.

Nathan Portugallo received 1,202 votes while Rhonda Bucci collected 844.

In other borough tax collector contests, candidates ran unopposed. Winners and their votes were:

*Bessemer -- Phyllis G. Retort, 345.

*Ellport -- Rita A. Foley, 283.

*Enon Valley -- Veronica A. Dombroski, 75.

*New Beaver -- Kelly S. Gubish, 323.

*New Wilmington -- Patricia A. Hanna, 365.

*SNPJ -- Karen S. Magnone, 11.

*South New Castle -- Jolene A. Thompson, 177.

*Volant -- No declared candidate.

*Wampum -- Jean A. McQuiston, 173.

There was no competition for borough auditor positions on the ballot Nov. 8. Winners and vote counts were:

*Enon Valley, six-year term -- Mary Jane Cox, 76.

*Enon Valley, two-year term -- No declared candidate.

*New Beaver -- No declared candidate.

*SNPJ -- James Book, 4.
