A West Virginia woman who was struck by a vehicle in Taylor Township on June 30 had died.

The New Castle Police Department identified the victim as Alissa Jones, 19, of Greenbrier, West Virginia. Police said they were dispatched at 11:23 p.m. June 30 for a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian in front of 241 Center Ave.

Responding officers found a female on the roadway who had been struck by a tractor-trailer, which had left the scene prior to officers' arrival.

Through the investigation, the department was able to identify and locate the suspected vehicle and driver involved in the incident. Police have obtained search warrants and are being executed on the suspect vehicle. Interviews are ongoing, police said.

The department has requested assistance of the Pennsylvania State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit with this incident.
