New Castle grouping

Taken from the Diocese of Pittsburgh web site, the priests and deacons below either will be assuming or leaving behind responsibilities to serve parishioners at Lawrence County churches under the new parish groupings.

Rev. Frank Almade

The Rev. Frank D. Almade from pastor of St. Joseph the Worker Parish; Mary, Mother of Hope Parish; St. Vincent de Paul Parish; and St. Vitus Parish, all in New Castle; and sacramental minister of Christ the King Parish, Bessemer/Hillsville and St. James the Apostle Parish, Pulaski, to administrator of the parishes within the Churchill/Turtle Creek/Wilmerding grouping, namely: St. Colman Parish, Turtle Creek; St. John Fisher Parish, Churchill; and St. Jude the Apostle Parish, Wilmerding, effective Monday, Oct. 15, 2018. 

The Very Rev. Philip N. Farrell, VE, is relieved of his responsibilities as priest director of Christ the King Parish, Bessemer/Hillsville and St. James the Apostle Parish, Pulaski, effective Monday, Oct. 15, 2018. At the same time, Father Farrell maintains his responsibilities as episcopal vicar for Pastoral Vicariate Region 4. Father Farrell maintains his residence at St. Peter Parish, Butler. 

The Rev. Zachary A. Galiyas from parochial vicar of St. Joseph the Worker Parish; Mary, Mother of Hope Parish; St. Vincent de Paul Parish; and St. Vitus Parish, all in New Castle; and sacramental minister of Christ the King Parish, Bessemer/Hillsville, and St. James the Apostle Parish, Pulaski, to parochial vicar of the parishes within the Avella/Burgettstown/Fort Cherry Area/West Allegheny Area grouping, namely: St. Alphonsus Parish, McDonald; St. Ann Parish, Bulger; St. Columbkille Parish, Imperial; St. Michael Parish, Avella; Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Burgettstown; and St. Patrick Parish, Oakdale, effective Monday, Oct. 15, 2018. 

The Rev. John P. Gallagher from pastor of St. Ferdinand Parish, Cranberry Township, to administrator, of the parishes within the Cranberry/Ellwood City/Zelienople grouping, namely: St. Ferdinand Parish, Cranberry Township; St. Gregory Parish, Evans City/Zelienople; and Holy Redeemer Parish, Ellwood City/Koppel/Wampum, effective Monday, Oct. 15, 2018.

The Rev. Victor J. Molka, Jr., from pastor of St. Valentine Parish, Bethel Park, to parish chaplain of the parishes within the New Castle Area grouping, namely: St. Camillus Parish, Neshannock Township; Christ the King Parish, Bessemer/Hillsville; St. James the Apostle Parish, Pulaski; and St. Joseph the Worker Parish; Mary, Mother of the Church Parish; St. Vincent de Paul Parish; and St. Vitus Parish, all in New Castle, effective Monday, Oct. 15, 2018. 

The Rev. Michael R. Peck from pastor of St. Camillus Parish, Neshannock Township, chaplain to Westminster College; and sacramental minister of Christ the King Parish, Bessemer/Hillsville, and St. James the Apostle Parish, Pulaski, to senior parochial vicar of the parishes within the Western Washington County grouping, namely: St. Hilary Parish and Immaculate Conception Parish, both in Washington, effective Monday, Oct. 15, 2018. 

The Rev. Anthony R. Sciarappa from parochial vicar of St. Michael the Archangel Parish, St. Paul Parish, and St. Peter Parish, all in Butler, to parochial vicar of the parishes within the New Castle Area grouping, namely: St. Camillus Parish, Neshannock Township; Christ the King Parish, Bessemer/Hillsville; St. James the Apostle Parish, Pulaski; St. Joseph the Worker Parish; Mary, Mother of the Church Parish; St. Vincent de Paul Parish; and St. Vitus Parish, all in New Castle, effective Monday, Oct. 15, 2018. At the same time, Father Sciarappa is assigned as part-time chaplain to Westminster College. 

The Rev. William P. The Rev. Nicholas A. Spirko, retired, maintains his residence at St. Vitus Parish, New Castle, effective Monday, Oct. 15, 2018. 

The Rev. Mark L. Thomas from pastor of Holy Redeemer Parish, Ellwood City, to senior parochial vicar of the parishes within the Cranberry/Ellwood City/Zelienople grouping, namely: St. Ferdinand Parish, Cranberry Township; St. Gregory Parish, Evans City/Zelienople; and Holy Redeemer Parish, Ellwood City/Koppel/Wampum, effective Monday, Oct. 15, 2018. 

The Rev. James R. Torquato from pastor of St. Scholastica Parish, Aspinwall, to senior parochial vicar of the parishes within the Cranberry/Ellwood City/Zelienople grouping, namely: St. Ferdinand Parish, Cranberry Township; St. Gregory Parish, Evans City/Zelineople; and Holy Redeemer Parish, Ellwood City/Koppel/Wampum, effective Monday, Oct. 15, 2018.

Deacon John J. Carran from deacon administrator and diaconal ministry at Christ the King Parish, Bessemer/Hillsville, and St. James the Apostle Parish, Pulaski, to deacon administrator of the New Castle Area grouping, namely: St. Camillus Parish, Neshannock Township; Christ the King Parish, Bessemer/Hillsville; St. James the Apostle Parish, Pulaski; and St. Joseph the Worker Parish; Mary, Mother of the Church Parish; St. Vincent de Paul Parish, and St. Vitus Parish, all in New Castle, in accord with the faculties for deacons and under the direction of the priest administrator. In addition, Deacon Carran is assigned to ministry of word and ministry of sacrament at the parishes in this same grouping. These appointments are effective Monday, Oct. 15, 2018. 

Deacon S. Daniel Kielar from diaconal ministry at St. Camillus Parish, Neshannock Township, to ministry of sacrament and the ministry of word in the New Castle Area grouping, namely: St. Camillus Parish, Neshannock Township; Christ the King Parish, Bessemer/Hillsville; St. James the Apostle Parish, Pulaski; and St. Joseph the Worker Parish; Mary, Mother of the Church Parish; St. Vincent de Paul Parish; and St. Vitus Parish, all in New Castle, in accord with the faculties for deacons and under the direction of the administrator. In addition, Deacon Kielar is assigned to ministry of service and charity at parishes in this same grouping. These appointments are effective Monday, Oct. 15, 2018. 

Deacon Donald C. Pepe from diaconal ministry at St. Gregory Parish, Evans City/Zelienople, and ministry of service and charity of Community Ministry and Community Dinner at St. Paul Parish, Butler, to ministry of sacrament and the ministry of word in the Cranberry/Ellwood City/Zelienople grouping, namely: St. Ferdinand Parish, Cranberry Township; St. Gregory Parish, Evans City/Zelienople; and Holy Redeemer Parish, Ellwood City/Koppel/Wampum, in accord with the faculties for deacons and under the direction of the administrator. In addition, Deacon Pepe is assigned to ministry of service and charity at parishes in this same grouping. These appointments are effective Monday, Oct. 15, 2018.
