Joseph M. Ciro, 69, of Widdowfield Lane, New Galilee, New Beaver Borough, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, in the Mary Evans Care Center, Ellwood City, following an extended illness.

Born in Wampum on Sept. 28, 1938, he was a son of the late Hugo and Elizabeth DeLeonardis Ciro.

Joseph had owned and operated Ciro’s Top of the Mall Restaurant in the Beaver Valley Mall before managing restaurants in Erie and Florida. He retired from the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas, where he was manager of the Savannah Steak Room.

He was affiliated with Queen of Heaven Parish in Wampum.

Joseph was a veteran of the Army.

Survivors include two sisters, Mary Micchione of West Pittsburg and Ann C. Oprisu of New Beaver Borough; a brother, James F. Ciro of New Castle; nine nieces; and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dominick Ciro and Tony “Archie” Ciro; and two sisters, Rose Hughes and Polly Takas.

Visitation is 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Marshall Funeral Home, 341 Main St., Wampum.

A blessing service will be conducted at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. Burial will be in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Ellwood City.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
