Georgia Mildred Altman, 84, of 914 Pleasant View Drive died the night of Jan. 27, 2008, in her home.

Born July 15, 1923, in Plain Grove Township, she was a daughter of the late Dewey and Pearl Cooper McConnell.

She married William L. Altman on May 15, 1940. He survives.

Mrs. Altman worked at the former Loblaw’s grocery store as a meat wrapper and in the food service department of K-Mart.

She attended New Castle High School.

Mrs. Altman was a member of the Meat Cutters Union.

She enjoyed puzzles.

Mrs. Altman attended Gardner Chapel.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Wanda L. Bigley of New Castle; a son, Dewey L. Altman of Portersville; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Altman.

No calling hours are planned.

A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home, 2429 Wilmington Road. The Rev. Robert Strobel will officiate. Burial will be in Plain Grove Cemetery.
