Robert H. Darwin, 60, formerly of 2288 Martha St., died the afternoon of Dec. 29, 2008, in Omni Manor Health Care Center, Youngstown.

Born July 5, 1948, in New Castle, he was a son of Robert G. and Dora Irene Cameron Darwin. His father preceded him in death. His mother survives in New Castle.

He married the former Gloria J. Hoover on Sept. 11, 1971. She survives in Youngstown.

Mr. Darwin was a communications technician for 28 years with Penn Power.

He was a graduate of New Castle High School.

Mr. Darwin was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

He collected coins, stamps and eagles, enjoyed target shooting, and was an avid knife and sword collector.

Mr. Darwin was a member of Hoover Heights Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, where he was an usher.

In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Kristina L. and Robert Rule of Boardman, and Rebecca I. and William Tanner of New Castle; a sister, Irene D. Klenotic of New Castle; and three grandchildren.

Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, 2429 Wilmington Road.

A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Larry Llewellyn will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the New Castle Area Veterans Honor Guard.

Burial will be in Savannah Cemetery.
