Gracie Harper, 80, of 405 Park Ave. died the morning of Feb. 11, 2009, in her home.

Born Jan. 18, 1929, in New Castle, she was a daughter of the late William and Marion Bowater Trick.

She married George Harper on Aug. 29, 1952. He died Jan. 9, 2002.

Mrs. Harper was secretary to the superintendent of the New Castle Area School District. She was also a secretary for the James A. Rugh Agency.

She was a 1949 graduate of New Castle High School.

Mrs. Harper was a member of St. Mary Church of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish, its ladies guild and the 500 Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Kim T. Cappabianco of New Castle; two sons, Kris Harper of Poland, Ohio, and Kelly Harper of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Irene Rupert of Portland, Ore., and Kate Campbell of New Castle; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, William B. Trick.

Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, 111 W. Falls St.

A service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. John Rebel, pastor of St. James the Apostle Church in New Bedford, will officiate.

Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
