Emma Jayne “Toots” Flynn, 88, of New Castle passed away at 1:38 p.m. June 3, 2009, in her home .

Emma was born Oct. 22, 1920, in New Castle to the late Eugene and Elizabeth Gardner Callahan.

She married William L. Flynn on Sept. 12 ,1946. He survives.

She graduated from New Castle High School in 1939.

She was a member of St. Mary Church of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish and a former member of the Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima.

Surviving her are six daughters, Marianne Travers, Julie Kennedy, Rosemary Hiler, Marcia Fennell, Donna Reisker and Annmarie Esposito, all of New Castle; eight sons, Patrick, William, John, David, Daniel, Timothy, Robert and Brian Flynn, all of New Castle; four sisters, Margaret Reider, Betty Graham, Flo Kelly and Theresa Owens, all of New Castle; 43 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Edward, Eugene, Ernie, Harold and Richard Callahan; and one great-grandson, Evan Prioletti.

Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, 111 W. Falls St.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. Saturday for St. Mary Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Victor J. Molka Jr., pastor.

Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
