A New Castle man told city police he had sexually assaulted his girlfriend as she slept Tuesday morning.
“Rape. I admit it. I did it but I don’t like it,” Joshua Allan Gault, 20, reportedly told police later that day.
The County Line Street man faces charges of rape, involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault. After his arraignment before District Judge Jennifer L. Nicholson, Gault was released on $10,000 bond.
Police interviewed the woman at Jameson Hospital around 8 a.m. The woman said she awoke around 5:30 a.m. and found Gault, her boyfriend, on top of her.
“She stated that they have never had sex before and she did not consent to intercourse with him,” police said in a criminal complaint.
“She stated that he had been trying to get her to engage in sex with him throughout the day.”
The woman left and went to her home. She went to the emergency room after calling the police.
Gault told investigators he had asked the woman if she wanted to break up after the alleged assault.
“He stated that (the woman) told him that she lost all respect for him. He stated he told her he was sorry and that she could report him or have him beat up.”
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Sept. 15.
