NEW YORK — She was Rizzo in the original Broadway company of “Grease.” And she played Carol, Bea Arthur’s daughter, on the ’70s TV sitcom “Maude.”

Now Adrienne Barbeau will play Judy Garland in “The Property Known as Garland,” a play by Billy Van Zandt, opening March 23 off-Broadway. Preview performances begin March 13 at the Actors’ Playhouse in Greenwich Village.

The play is a fictional recreation of Garland backstage at her final concert, a 1969 appearance at the Falkoner Center in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Barbeau, 60, recently portrayed Ruthie the snake dancer on the HBO series “Carnivale.” Her screen credits include roles in “The Fog,” “Escape From New York,” “Swamp Thing” and “The Cannonball Run.”
