Some major change is in store for Lawrence County football teams. Based off the approaching new PIAA enrollment cycle, which runs every two academic years and kicks in this fall, the WPIAL released its revamped conference alignment yesterday.
Wilmington sets kindergarten screening
Children entering the Wilmington kindergarten program for 2014-15 year will be screened April 23 and 24. The program is for children who live in the district and will be 5 years old before Sept. 1.
Wilmington psychologist resigns
The Wilmington school district is looking for a new psychologist. Cynthia Wright, school Psychologist, resigned, effective April 14. Acting superintendent Jennifer Conrad said the position will be posted internally before being advertised.

Dr. Michelle M. Miller was named superintendent of the Wilmington Area School District last night. The board approved a three-year term for the 38-year-old and set her first year salary at $120,000.

PIAA Soccer: Lum lifts Lady Greyhounds to OT victory
Overtime became Kyler-time last night. Kyler Lum scored the tying goal and added the golden goal in overtime to lift Wilmington to a 2-1 win over Sewickley Academy in a PIAA Class A first-round girls soccer match at Franklin High School.
Wilmington grad in online music contest
A Wilmington High graduate could use your help to boost his music career. Billy Pennington, who received his Wilmington diploma in 2011, is enrolled at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh in the video effects and motion graphics program. However, he’s also part of an online music contest at artistsignal.com.
New school grading system unveiled Friday
The Pennsylvania Department of Education is rolling out its revamped system of grading schools Friday. One thing will be clear immediately: The state will be using two grading systems — one for schools with lots of poor students and another for every other school in the Commonwealth.
