Pulaski police buy school shoes for children
Twenty-one children have new shoes to start school this year, compliments of the Pulaski Township Police Department. The officers conducted a fundraising campaign and collected more than $600 in contributions from local residents and businesses.
Wilmington sets student orientation
Wilmington Area Middle/High School will hold an orientation for parents and students on Aug. 28. The orientation is for students entering fifth grade, ninth grade, and any new student entering grades five through 12, according to the following schedule:
Local swimmer earns All-American recognition
The recognition has turned national for Wilmington High swimmer Lauren Barber. Barber was named a 2012-2013 National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association Girls High School Swimming All-American in two events, the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke.

There was a time when one nail in the wall was good for Jon Yohman. He used it to hang a gold medal in his bedroom. However, that single nail became obsolete in a hurry. As Yohman capped his high school career at Wilmington, that wall became pretty covered.
New Wilmington considers school police officer
New Wilmington Borough is considering providing a police officer to work in the Wilmington schools. The school district employs private security officers to patrol the schools.
Wilmington OKs budget with no tax hike
The Wilmington School Board approved a $20 million budget with no tax increase this week. The new $20,077,110, spending plan for the 2013-14 school year is $1,660,567 greater than the current year’s budget. Increases are attributed to higher retirement costs and capital projects anticipated for the coming school year.

Young bowler wins another title
When it comes to bowling, 12-year-old Trent Pektas just keeps on rolling. Trent, a Wilmington Middle School sixth grader, claimed the boys 12 and under title of the 2013 Pennsylvania Pepsi Youth Championships over the weekend in Harrisburg.
District 10, Class AA Track and Field Championships: Wilmington’s Yohman was good as gold
Wilmington High’s Jon Yohman turned in a golden effort Saturday. Yohman captured gold medals in the shot put and the discus events at the District 10, Class AA Track and Field Championships at Harbor Creek High’s Paul J. Weitz Stadium.
