Susan K. Grauel, Second Lt. Patrick Carpenter

NEW CASTLE — Susan K. Grauel and Second Lt. Patrick Carpenter were married at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 28, 2012, at St. Mary’s Church, Ballston Spa, N.Y. The Rev. Thomas J. Kelly officiated.

Parents of the couple are Karen and Theodore Grauel III of Ballston Spa, and Debra and Col. Patrick Carpenter of Woodbridge, Conn.

The bride’s grandparents are former New Castle residents Dr. Theodore Jr. and Jane Grauel of Ballston Spa.

A saber arch concluded the church proceedings.

The bride wore a floor-length white gown with lace and a cathedral-length veil.

Her bouquet contained white roses and gardenias.

Vocalist was Douglas Carpenter, the groom’s brother.

Matron of honor was Dianna Rokitowski of Amsterdam, N.Y.

Bridesmaids were Taylor Barnes of Hanahan, S.C., Katie Ness of Reading, Pa., Jessica Podesva of Middle Grove, N.Y., Beth Carpenter, the groom’s sister-in-law, of Woodbridge, Va., Kaitlin Carpenter, the groom’s sister of Wilton, N.Y. and Miranda Carpenter, the groom’s sister, of Woodbridge.

Megan Carpenter, the groom’s sister, escorted the ring bearer, Joseph Carpenter, the groom’s nephew, of Woodbridge, Va.

Serving as best man was Second Lt. Gabe Royal of Enterprise, Ala.

Groomsmen were Scott Carpenter, the groom’s brother, of Ossining, N.Y., Douglas Carpenter, the groom’s brother, of Manhattan, N.Y., Alexander Carpenter, the groom’s brother, of West Point, N.Y., Alexander Grauel, the bride’s brother, of Ballston Spa., Second Lt. Zachary D’Ooge of Columbus, Ga. and Second Lt. Steven Roberts of Killeen, Texas.

The bride is a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School and Siena College, where she received a bachelor’s degree in American studies.

Her husband graduated from Murrieta Valley High School and the U.S. Military Academy with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He is a second lieutenant in the Army.

The reception was held at the historic Canfield Casino in Saratoga Springs N.Y.

Due to the groom’s active duty in the Army at Fort Benning, Ga. the couple has postponed their honeymoon to a later time.

The newlyweds make their home in Columbus, Ga.
