Megan A. Venasco and Samuel N. Mielke

Megan A. Venasco and Samuel N. Mielke were married at a 3:30 p.m. ceremony Sept. 19, 2009, at St. Vitus Church. Officiating was the Rev. John D. Petrarulo.

The bride is a daughter of Ruth Ann Venasco McMonagle of 423 Shady Lane, and the late Anthony V. Venasco, and the late Jerry McMonagle.

The groom’s parents are Walter and Carmen Mielke of 796 Seventh St., West Pittsburg.

The bride wore an ivory satin Casa Blanca gown. It featured embroidery and beadwork adorning the sweetheart strapless bodice, pleated sash at the waist, and beadwork on the semi-cathedral train.

She carried a traditional bouquet of white mini calla lilies, white dendrobium orchids and white roses.

Honor attendants were Andrea Wagner of New Castle and Maureen Franciscus, sister of the bride of Pittsburgh.

Bridesmaids were Joelle Fry of New Castle, Kathleen Drosdzal of Olney, Md., Andrea Arkin of Washington, D.C., Nicole Laurenza of New Castle, Lyndsie Smith of New Castle and Ginger Ponziani of New Castle.

Flower girls were Sienna and Grayson Crocker of Reading, Mass.

Miniature bride was Femina Franciscus of Pittsburgh.

Miniature groom was Michael Ponziani III of New Castle.

The best man was Doug Russell of West Pittsburg.

Ushers were Andrew Fry of New Castle, AJ Ross of West Pittsburg, Mark Shoaff of West Pittsburg, Anthony Laurenza of New Castle, Lucas Ferrucci of Edinburg, Michael Ponziani II of New Castle and Justin Venasco, brother of the bride, of Frankford, Del.

Junior groomsman was Andy Ferrucci of Edinburg.

Ceremony music was by Sandy DeCarbo and the vocalist was Marcia Miot.

The reception followed at the Scottish Rite Cathedral.

After honeymooning in Aruba, the newlyweds make their home in New Castle.

The bride is a 2000 graduate of Neshannock High School and a 2003 graduate of Jameson School of Nursing. A registered nurse, she is a disability nurse case manager specialist with CIGNA Group Insurance.

Her husband graduated from New Castle High School in 2001 and attended the Community College of Allegheny County. He works at Jameson Hospital.
