Rita Margaret Schneider and Joseph Michael Katich were married at a 1:30 p.m. ceremony on Aug. 1, 2009, at St. Noel Catholic Church, Willoughby Hills, Ohio. Officiating was the Rev. George Smiga.
Parents of the couple are Leo and Susan Schneider of Mayfield Village, Ohio, and Ronald and Kathleen Katich of North Beaver Township.
The bride wore a white gown by Monique Luo. The dress featured a beaded lace bodice and chiffon and taffeta ruffled skirt.
She carried a bouquet of lavender roses.
Maid of honor was Carla Schneider, sister of the bride, of Williamsburg, Va.
Bridesmaids were Amy Chornenky, sister of the groom, of New Castle, and Andrea Vavasour and Emily Mis, both of Fairfield, Conn.
There were two best men, Justin Katich and Matthew Katich, brothers of the groom, of New Castle.
Groomsmen were John Chornenky of New Castle, Eugene Butch III of Kissimmee, Fla., and Kevin Moyer of Springfield, Ohio.
The Mass was interpreted in sign language by Mary Smith of Willoughby Hills.
The reception took place at the Atrium of The Dolan Science Center at John Carroll University.
After honeymooning in St. Lucia, West Indies, the couple make their home in Williamsburg.
The bride is a graduate of Mayfield High School. She holds a bachelor of science in mathematics and physics from Fairfield University, and a masters in physics and a master’s in education from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg.
She is a high school math teacher in Williamsburg.
Her husband is a graduate of Mohawk High School. He holds a bachelor of science in physics from Westminster College and a masters in physics from the College of William & Mary.
He is a doctoral candidate at the College of William & Mary where he anticipates receiving his doctorate in physics in the spring. He works at Jefferson Laboratory in Newport News, Va.
