NEW CASTLE —
Toni Rupert and Thomas Burkardt were married at 4 p.m. Feb. 14, 2013, at the couple’s home. The Rev. Dennis L. Bupp officiated.
The mother of the bride is Donna Thomas of 508 E. Moody Ave.
The mother of the groom is Rita Taylor of 211 W. Moody Ave.
The bride and groom gave their mother roses in remembrance of loved ones who could not be with them to share their special day.
The bride’s brothers, Dan and Lou Thomas, escorted her down the staircase to give her away in marriage.
The bride sprinkled two bottles of silver glitter over the carpet, which made the room sparkle.
She work a pink Alyce fit and flare gown. The top was embellished with three pink and white satin open face cascading flowers highlighted with rose and silver sequins, pink beads and diamond studs. The bottom consisted of layers of pink ruffles. The bride wore a necklace and earrings belonging to her daughter, Erica Nerti, which she wore on her wedding day, and a pink/white crystal ring belonging to her sister, Lori Hewitt.
Her bouquet was a clutch of pink and lavender roses with purple statice and lavender wax accented with crystals.
The couple’s granddaughter, Calina Nerti of New Castle, was the flower girl and the ring bearer.
Lori Hewitt, the bride’s sister, of New Castle, was matron of honor.
Serving as best man was Mike Nocera of New Castle.
The reception will take place May 18, 2013, at South New Castle Borough Volunteer Fire Department. The bride plans to wear a pink sequin poufy gown, which her two youngest daughters wore to their high school prom.
A honeymoon to Hawaii is planned in the future.
The bride is a graduate of New Castle High School and retired from the New Castle Youth Development Center, where she was a youth development counselor.
Her husband graduated from New Castle High School, and attended Youngstown State University and Slippery Rock University. He also served four years in the Air Force.
He retired from the New Castle Youth Development Center, where he was a youth development aide.
The couple make their home at 508 E. Moody Ave.
