NEW CASTLE —
Kristi Irene McKim and Mark William Barr were married May 19, 2012.
The outdoor ceremony took place on the lawn of the William J. Clinton Presidential Center and Park along the banks of the Arkansas River in Little Rock, Ark. Owen Egerton of Austin, Texas, officiated.
Accompanied by a live bagpiper who played the Shaker hymn, “Simple Gifts,” the bride and groom walked together down the aisle, as they followed their parents, Robert Bradley and Brunita Irene McKim of Mount Jackson, and William Joseph and Alice Darlene Barr of Sherwood, Ark.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held on a deck overlooking the newly-opened Rock Island Bridge.
The bride wore a vintage-styled satin tea length dress with a full skirt and bateau neckline.
Her bouquet contained red, orange, and yellow ranunculus.
After a June reception at The Crane Room in New Castle, the couple honeymooned in Paris, Bordeaux, Provence, and Beaune, France in July.
A graduate of Mohawk High School, the bride, who is keeping her maiden name, received a bachelor of arts degree from Pennsylvania State University, The Behrend College and a Ph.D. from Emory University. She is currently an associate professor of film studies and English at Hendrix College.
Originally from Sherwood, her husband earned a bachelor of arts degree in English from Hendrix College, a bachelor of arts degree in computer science from the University of Iowa and an master’s of fine art degree in fiction writing from the University of Texas, San Marcos. He is a senior software developer with Verizon.
The newlyweds make their home in Little Rock.
