Meghan Elizabeth Wilson and Joseph Christopher Cowart were married at a 4 p.m. ceremony June 29, 2007, at First Baptist Church on Maitland Lane. Officiating was the Rev. Mike Wells.

The bride is a daughter of James and Mary Jo Wilson of Volant.

Parents of the groom are Robert and Cara Cowart, Kim Clavelli and Wayne Alexander, all of New Castle.

The bride’s elegant strapless, trumpet-style gown was adorned with Alencon lace and chapel-length train. Accenting her waist was an ivory satin sash clasped with rhinestone broaches.

She carried a bouquet of pink peonies, white hydrangeas, green hypernaberry and green mums wrapped with ivory satin ribbon.

Maid of honor was Brittany Wilson, sister of the bride of Volant.

Bridesmaids were Kourtney Diaz, sister of the groom, of Pittsburgh, Katrina Cowart, sister of the groom, of New Castle, Samantha Wells of New Castle, Allyson Garrett of Charlottesville, Va., Morgan Palmer of Ellwood, Pa., Dana Wagner of Cleveland, Ohio, and Kari Pitzer of Coats, N.C.

Best man was Chad Hefferin of Pittsburgh.

The ushers were Carlos Diaz of Pittsburgh, Evan Wilson, bride’s brother, of Volant, Scott Taylor of Hartville, Ohio, John Paul McFeeley of Cranberry, Pat Cain of New Castle, Eddie Pagley of New Castle and Vince Sapienza of New Castle.

Ceremony vocalists were Brittany Wilson and Pastor Scott Frederick.

Accompanist was Luanne Goodrich and trumpeter was Chris Masi.

The reception took place at The Corinthian, Sharon.

After honeymooning in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, the newlyweds make their home at 307 Edison Ave., Apt. 5.

The bride is a graduate of Laurel High School and Westminster College, where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education. She is a sixth-grade math and language arts teacher at Mohawk Elementary School.

Her husband is a graduate of New Castle High School. He holds a bachelor of arts in communications from Allegheny College and a bachelor of arts in elementary education from Slippery Rock University.
