Vanessa Dawn Affagato and Eric Adam Bayless were married during an outdoor ceremony at 1:30 p.m. May 31, 2008, at Boardman Park.
Despite rain and tornado watches in effect until 11 a.m., the couple were able to go ahead with their gazebo wedding. Pastor Cynthia Cirelli officiated.
Parents of the bride are Dave and Debbie Affagato of 909 S. Main St., Bessemer.
The groom is a son of Gary and Virginia Bayless, 3378 Hillsville Road, Edinburg.
The bride’s ivory organza, strapless gown and semi-cathedral train, had a shirred bodice covered with lace, and a split-side skirt featuring embroidered tulle inlay.
She carried a bouquet of Blizzard roses with rhinestone centers, and lavender and violet carnations highlighted with organza ribbon.
Matron of honor was Heather Gardner, bride’s sister, of New Castle.
Bridesmaids were Ashley Allen of Shenango Township, Shannon Angelo of Neshannock Township, Carrie Klik, Leann Marino and Nicole Allen, all of Shenango Township.
Serving as best man was Jim Marino of Shenango Township.
Ushers were Neal Bayless, groom’s brother, of Indianapolis, Ind., Matt Angelo of Neshannock Township, Shawn Klik of Shenango Township, Ed Barefield of Leetonia, Ohio, and Rick Carna of Mahoning Township.
Also participating was Jimmy Marino, who handed out programs and bubbles to guests.
Ceremony organist was Nancy Brescia.
The reception took place at The Elmtree, Struthers, Ohio.
After honeymooning at The Blue Ridge Mountains, Ellijay, Ga., the newlyweds make their home at 1032 S. Cascade St.
The bride is a graduate of Mohawk High School. She earned an associate degree in secretarial science and legal at Erie Business Center.
She is an administrative assistant in the Lawrence County commissioners office.
The groom is also a Mohawk alumnus. He received a bachelor’s degree in education from Youngstown State University.
He is an auditor with Data Scan Technologies Inc.
